Sudha is studying for a PhD in Applied Economics and Management, specializing in agricultural and development economics. For her doctoral thesis, Sudha is investigating the farm-firm interface in contract farming systems in India, with a focus on screening and selection mechanisms used by agribusinesses to contract with farmers.
Her broader research interests are constituted around the common theme of
food, with a slant towards supply side issues, especially agrarian
markets, trade and institutions. She is particularly interested in
survey-based research - using microeconometric techniques to understand
broader questions of agrarian change and transformation in the context of
globalization.
