Rural Livelihoods and Biological Resources:

Institutions and Technologies Workshop

The Rural Livelihoods and Biological Resources: Institutions and Technologies (RLBR) Workshop is an initiative supported by the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies at Cornell University. RLBR provides an interdisciplinary forum for the discussion of cutting edge topics related to rural communities and biological resources, especially but not exclusively in low-income countries.

The workshop involves a few undergraduate students, a couple dozen graduate students and a dozen or so faculty. Participation is completely open to all. Disciplines represented range from economics, political science and law to plant breeding, animal science, environmental toxicology and epidemiology.

The core objectives of the workshop are to help students identify important, feasible topics for thesis research, to help them plumb the resources available outside their own disciplines here at Cornell, and to put them in contact with a broader network of scholars interested in related issues around the world. The workshop features both seminars by visiting scholars and discussions among Cornell participants.
