AEM Double Major

Double Majors

Students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences may apply to double major in Applied Economics and Management. Double majors must meet all of the graduation requirements for both majors.

How to Apply

1. Meet the minimum requirements for admission as a double major.

Double Major: Minimum Admission Requirements

Complete at least one year at Cornell at the date of the application to double major.

Achieve a cumulative GPA at Cornell of 2.75 or better.

Successfully complete ECON 1110 or ECON 1120. (AP credit will be accepted.)

Successfully complete one course in calculus. (AP credit will be accepted.)

Receive a grade of “B” or better in a minimum of 2 of the following courses. Beginning with courses taken Fall 2009, a grade of B+ or better is required. (AP credit cannot be used for this requirement.)

• AEM 1200
• AEM 2100, PAM 2100, ILRST 2100, or ENGRD 2700
• AEM 2210 or H ADM 2223 (Hotel School students may count H ADM 1121 or 2221)
• AEM 2300 (cross-listed as ECON 2300)
• AEM 2400 or HA 2241 (Hotel School students may count H ADM 2243)
• AEM 2500
• ENGRI 1270 may be counted by College of Engineering students

2. Complete the application form, which can be obtained from the Undergraduate Program Coordinator in 146 Warren Hall.

3. Attach a copy of your transcript of grades. You can obtain an "unofficial" transcript at no cost from the college registrar in 140 Roberts Hall.

4. Return the form and transcript to the Undergraduate Program Coordinator in 146 Warren Hall.

5. You will then need to schedule a meeting with Arla Hourigan (146 Warren Hall, 255-8472) or Dale Grossman (114 Warren Hall; office hours are posted on the AEM 320 and AEM 321 course web sites).

6. You will be contacted by e-mail regarding your acceptance into the double major.
